Job-Posting Opportunities

November 20, 2009 · Leave a Comment

We continue to work on creating NEWIEE’s permanent web site and hope to have it available in the coming weeks.  One of its functions will be to serve as a forum for connecting applicants with potential employers within the group.  This feature may include a job posting board and a resume repository, or a similar tool to share information about employment/internship opportunities among group members.

In advance of the web site becoming fully operational, if you have a position available to post on the site, please send your posting to Courtney at courtney@newhabitatpartners.com, who will be collecting and organizing this information. Although resumes will not be collected at this time, please email Courtney if you would like to receive a copy of the postings periodically.

Green Marketing Workshop to be Presented by NEWIEE July 23

Expert panelists to address green marketing in challenging times and how to promote credibly and affordably.

Boston, MA, July 14, 2009 - Generating trust and other marketing issues and best practices specific to green companies will be addressed at a workshop presented by the New England Women in Energy and the Environment (NEWIEE).  NEWIEE is a dynamic new organization focused on uniting women to create awareness about and advance solutions for two of the most important issues of our time – energy and the environment.

The event will take place on Thursday, July 23rd from 5-7 PM at Marketing Drive, LLC, 116 Huntington Ave., Boston.

A group of green marketing experts from the region will lead the workshop.  These women have worked with and for leading companies and organizations such as Energy Star, IBM, Alteris Renewables, New England Clean Energy Council and EMC Corporation.

The presenters will offer tips for promoting companies credibly and affordably in a down economy and as part of a nascent industry lacking standardization for many products.  They will also cover basic marketing principles as well as paid and earned media tactics including exploiting social media.

“NEWIEE was formed to bring together women in the energy and environmentfields.  It provides informal forums for those involved to share knowledge and expertise, and to help educate others about the field,” explained Judy Chang, executive director of NEWIEE.  “Green marketing is becoming more and more relevant to new and established companies.  The event will provide an opportunity for us to hear from some expert marketers in the New England area.”

Workshop presenters are:

  • Pamela Ardizzone, principal, Green Machine PR
  • Laura Bartsch, principal, Millville Partners
  • Cynthia Curtis, former executive vice president, Utimaco Safeware and owner of the first LEED certified house in Wellesley, MA
  • Helen Fairman, principal, Millville Partners
  • Cindy Jolicoeur, vice president, Marketing Drive
  • Jo Lee, principal, Green Machine PR
  • Beth Zonis, principal and founder, Eco Marketing LLC

To RSVP to this event, please email Donna Keith at donna.keith@marketingdrive.com, or call her at 617.368.6700.  There is no cost to attend but seating is limited.

What Do Obama’s Policies on Energy and the Environment Mean for MA?

May 11, 2009 · Leave a Comment

Massachusetts has been a national leader in renewable energy policy due to the will power in government and private sector support. But how are federal stimulus funds going to be allocated? What is the process and what does it mean to Massachusetts? Could a national dialogue about carbon trading start in Massachusetts through a Carbon Trading Council?

These topics were explored at our April 28th panel with Courtney Feeley-Karp, Esq., Massachusetts Division of Energy Resources (DOER) and Shannon O’Brien, Esq., Consultant and Former Massachusetts Treasurer.

Thank you Courtney and Shannon for your provocative presentations and thanks Choate, Hall & Stewart for hosting the event at your office.

And, here’s some insight gleaned from our panel regarding the questions above: The DOER doesn’t want to leave one penny on the table. And, carbon could be the 5th largest traded commodity in the world.

New Organization Founded for New England Women in Energy & the Environment

February 20, 2009 · 1 Comment

First of Its Kind Association Unites Private and Public Sectors, Hosts Launch Event at the BuildingEnergy09 Conference

The newly founded New England Women in Energy & the Environment (NEWIEE), an association that provides an open forum for women interested in energy and the environment, will make its official debut on March 12, 2007 at the NESEA Building Energy 09 Conference at the Seaport World Trade Center in Boston.

The organization is the first of its kind in the New England area. It aims to harness the passion, intelligence and leadership experience of women to promote and encourage public interest in the energy and environmental sectors.

“I realized that women were thinly spread throughout the energy and environmental sectors and wanted to bring them together in the form of an open, aware and dynamic organization, which is how NEWIEE came to be,” said Judy Chang, executive director of NEWIEE and a Principal at the Brattle Group.  “We’re focused on encouraging women of all backgrounds to particpate in and/or become more informed about the energy and environmental sectors, and we’re thrilled to be celebrating our official launch today.”

NEWIEE’s mission is to foster enthusiastic collaboration for those who care about energy and environmental issues in order to encourage the development of creative solutions.  The association provides educational opportunities, such as panel discussions on current energy and environmental-related issues, and organizes outreach activities geared towards young women.  It also highlights the achievements and contributions of women in the energy and environmental sectors through programs, publications and events.

To celebrate its launch, NEWIEE is hosting a reception in the Skyline Room, Seaport World Trade Center, at 1:00 p.m. on March 12th.  The event is sponsored by the Northeast Sustainable Energy Association (NESEA) as a side-event at their BuildingEnergy09 Conference, and NEWIEE encourages all to attend.

For more information, or if you are interested in joining NEWIEE, please contact Gayle Koch at Gayle.Koch@brattle.com

About NEWIEE

Stimulus Bill Energy Efficiency

February 13, 2009 · Leave a Comment

At last week’s NEWIEE  panel discussion, there was a question about how much funding for energy efficiency could be included in the stimulus bill. Alliance to Save Energy has compiled a comparison chart between the House and Senate versions, which can be accessed at the link below.

This information is likely to change based on the discussions going on now and the desire by some in the Senate to decrease the overall size of the package, but it gives a flavor for the type of spending being discussed.
